Renée Caisse

is an 18-year-old traditional artist and writer based in Portland, Maine and central Massachusetts. Caisse is in the process of getting her BFA in painting and a minor in writing at Maine College of Art & Design (AKA MECA&D). Her work has a primary focus on the exploration of the self and how portraiture, color, body language, and symbolism can influence the emotion of a piece. Caisse works in a range of mediums but has a particular fondness for painting. She enjoys the meditative and therapeutic process of holding a paintbrush and losing herself to the canvas. Aside from painting, Caisse finds joy in photography, film, and digital, and is experimenting in this medium while at MECA&D. Her work is for sale in person or on her online shop. Every first Friday of each month during the academic year, Caisse has a table on Congress Street in Portland selling her prints and the occasional original painting.
